Teenager from Londonderry dies in car crash

LONDONDERRY, NH – A 17-year-old died from injuries sustained in a car crash on Interstate 93 Friday afternoon.

Today, August 23, 2024, at 2:47 p.m., State Troopers assigned to Troop B Barracks were dispatched to a crash near mile marker 14 on I-93 southbound. Troopers arrived and after speaking with witnesses, determined that a gray 2008 Mercury Milan was traveling southbound when it veered right off the highway and struck several trees.

The motorway was closed completely for a short time while members of the Londonderry Fire Service attempted to free the driver from her vehicle. The driver, identified as Lillianna Cawthron of Londonderry, was taken to Elliott Hospital in Manchester with life-threatening injuries. Cawthron eventually succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

State police were assisted at the scene by members of the Londonderry Police Department, Londonderry Fire Department and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. Traffic was limited to two lanes for approximately four hours while the investigation and recovery of the vehicle from the scene took place.
