Bears safety Douglas Coleman III returned to Chicago on Friday after being hospitalized overnight in Kansas City.

Coach Matt Eberflus gave an update to 670 The Score on Friday, saying Coleman is cleared to walk and in good spirits after a scary incident in Thursday night's preseason game against Kansas City.

Coleman, 26, was injured during a tackle on the first play of the second half. His neck appeared to snap back when he collided with Kansas City wide receiver Cornell Powell.

Coleman was treated by medical personnel and placed on a stabilization board before being loaded into an ambulance. Eberflus said after the Bears' 34-21 victory that Coleman was able to move his limbs.

Coleman has yet to play in the NFL. He is trying to make Chicago's roster after spending three seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. He went undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2020 and spent the rest of the year on the Denver Broncos' practice squad.
