“I don't want to get the call that it was my sister or someone else”; Woman attacked in alleged road rage incident

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A Lexington woman is recovering from a violent attack during an alleged driving aggression incident.

“When you're driving around the UK campus singing along to a song, you don't expect a grown man to come up to you and punch you in the face,” said Kasey Dickens.

Kasey was driving down South Limestone after work on Monday. With the windows down, she stopped at a red light at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Huguelet Drive.

At that moment, a man got out of his car next to Kasey and then the unthinkable happened.

“I hear someone shouting curses. He insults me and grabs my shoulder. Before I can move, I am moved. Then this man hits me in the face.”

Still in shock, Kasey called 911 from her car.

The man is described as white and approximately 5'8″ tall. He drives a silver four-door Kia and has two gray pit bulls in the back seat.

Kasey said he yelled at her for getting too close to his vehicle. Kasey's attacker left her with a concussion, a broken nose on both sides, a deviated septum and the fear that he is still out there.

“I think I looked at the people in the car next to me and wanted to help them. Nobody did anything. I know there are people who would have helped, but if you notice something that doesn't look right, it's OK to say something and get loud.”

Now Kasey is bravely telling her story in the hope that this won't happen to anyone else.

“I don't want to get the call that it was my sister or someone else. I don't want to go through that again.”

Kasey said the support she has received from friends, family and business owners or other drivers who have offered her video has been overwhelming.

She is working with Lexington Police and Campus Police to track down the suspected attacker.
