Leaked photos from “Freaky Friday 2” are an “interference”

Jamie Lee Curtis spends her Friday criticizing paparazzi for secretly taking photos from the set of the Freaky Friday sequel.

Curtis, who reprises her original role alongside Lindsay Lohan in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 cult film, clarified on Instagram that the leaked images from production do not provide any insight into the plot of the film, currently titled “Freakier Friday.”

“Since other media outlets have already published it, I'm going to take advantage of the intrusion of a paparazzi photo into the creative process of filmmaking,” Curtis wrote. “We've tried so hard to keep our story secret and private until it's released, but every now and then an image surfaces that doesn't reveal anything about the story or what's going on with the characters, but it shows the joy and fun we had making 'Freakier Friday' and we know it will be the experience you'll have in theaters next year.”

The Oscar winner added: “Yes, you heard me right… The movie theaters. The place where we all go and enjoy a shared experience in the dark while we munch on popcorn and candy and laugh together and sometimes cry together. Until then.”

While Disney has yet to publicly reveal plot details for Freakier Friday, Curtis previously confirmed that the story will revolve around her role as the grandmother of Lohan's daughter. Of course, like in the first film, there will be body swapping. Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray are both back for the sequel, along with new cast members Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons. Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao also star.

The film, which was announced earlier this year, will be directed by Late Night director Nisha Ganatra. Production on the film has already been completed and is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025.

Curtis shared in 2022 that she envisioned the storyline spanning three generations. “Let me be the grandma! Let me be the old grandma who switches places,” Curtis said. “Then Lindsay becomes the sexy grandma who is still happy with Mark Harmon, like one would be happy with Mark Harmon. And just, I want to see Lindsay as a hot grandma, and I want to see me trying to deal with toddlers of today. I want to be a helicopter mom in today's world, as an old lady.”
