Nicole Virzi, 29, of San Diego, California, was babysitting in June when police were called to the 6000 block of Walnut Street because a baby had fallen out of a crib.

The baby was taken to UPMC Children's Hospital and died of a severe skull fracture and multiple brain hemorrhages. A doctor said the injuries were neither natural nor accidental.

According to court documents, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday that it would seek the death penalty.
