Should the Browns pursue OT Jackson Carman, who was released by the Bengals?

It's no secret that the Cleveland Browns enter the season with an already weak roster of offensive tackles.

Three injured Browns offensive tackles: James Hudson, Hakeem Adeniji and German Ifedi, left the second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings. Adeniji was subsequently placed on the injured list, but Hudson and Ifedi are expected back shortly, according to coach Kevin Stefanski.

With roster cuts imminent (August 28), is it worth the Browns taking a look at the Bengals' recently released former 2021 second-round pick Jackson Carman?

The team may have already done so by looking at the Bengals' footage from their second preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played sloppy and drew a lot of penalties.

This seemed to be the last straw, as Carman had reportedly been given ample opportunities by the Bengals to excel at guard and tackle.

It doesn't look like Carman can help the Browns' offensive line, which has struggled with penalty issues in addition to injuries. The loss of legendary offensive line coach Bill Callahan to Tennessee (replaced by Andy Dickerson) was a huge blow to a team that once had the best offensive line in football. Hopefully, the level of offensive tackle will be better in the final preseason game against Seattle on August 24, 2024.
