Man from Rembert is accused of strangling woman in front of children

Sumter, SC (WOLO) — Sumter County officials have arrested a Rembert man accused of forcibly entering a woman's motel and strangling her in front of her children. Just before 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, officials were called to a motel near North Main Street. When they arrived, they were met by someone claiming to be a victim of domestic violence.

Officers said the victim told them a man identified as 23-year-old Thomer Robinson kicked in the motel room door before attacking the woman and holding her down while three children watched. Officials say an employee came into the room and was able to get him to stop attacking the woman, according to authorities.

After interviewing witnesses and examining evidence at the scene, officers arrested Robinson for domestic violence.

Robinson is being held at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center awaiting a bail hearing.
