Injuries accompany the former Giants star as he moves to his long-time rival

The color of his jersey may have changed, but former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is still plagued by injuries.

Barkley, who signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason, addressed what was allegedly a problem in the lower back area in training this week, the injury reportedly occurred on Tuesday.

Concerns about his availability continued to grow as Barkley changed for practice on Wednesday but was excluded from team exercises.

Barkley, who has struggled with injury issues in all but two of his seasons as a Giant, was likely left out as a precautionary measure, as it does not appear that what has cropped up is serious enough to keep him out of action long-term.

It was also noted that if Barkley's injury had been so severe, coaches likely would not have allowed him to be on the field as a spectator during practice.

There appears to be no indication that Barkley will miss the Eagles' regular-season opener against the Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

While no one wishes the former Giant any harm, the fact that he continues to be plagued by injuries despite his meticulous care of his body should be a concern for the Eagles given their investment.
