Indian Olympic medallist Sarabjot reveals he tried to imitate viral Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec: 'If I had the chance…' | Olympics

Sarabjot Singh, along with Manu Bhaker, won bronze in the mixed 10m air pistol team event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. It was Bhaker's second bronze medal after she had earlier won bronze in the women's 10m air pistol individual event.

Sarabjot Singh revealed his admiration for Yusuf Dikec.

In an interview with PUMA India, Sarabjot called Turkish viral shooter Yusuf Dikec a role model and made a big revelation.

“I have been watching his (Yusuf's) videos since 2011. He has always been like this. Today he is 51. Although I have tried, I cannot reach his perfection. If I had the chance, I would ask him what he eats,” he said.

Sarabjot also made a surprising revelation about his preparation for Paris 2024, explaining that he barely had time to train with Bhaker. “My training was scheduled at 9 am, hers at 12 pm, individually. The mixed session was for 30 minutes, before that she trained individually and I trained individually,” he said.

“Our conversation was usually short and limited to 'Apna 100 percent dena hai (we have to give 100 percent).' Apart from that, we would chat a bit. Sometimes I would make fun of her, sometimes she would make fun of me,” he added.

India also won another bronze medal in shooting through Swapnil Kusale. Meanwhile, Aman Sehrawat won a bronze medal in wrestling. Neeraj Chopra was unable to defend his title and had to settle for silver in the men's javelin. In the men's hockey, India defeated Spain in the playoff for the bronze medal.

Overall, India won six medals and it could have been seven but a controversial disqualification prevented that. Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before her gold medal match for weighing 100 grams more than the permissible limit. The veteran wrestler even appealed against the silver medal but a delayed CAS ruling ruled it out. Since her disqualification, Phogat also announced her retirement, which caused uproar across the country.
