Russian attack kills five people in eastern Ukrainian town, says governor

KIEV, Aug 24 (Reuters) – At least five civilians were killed and five others injured in a Russian attack in the eastern Ukrainian town of Kostiantynivka on Saturday, a regional governor said.

Vadym Filashkin, governor of the Donetsk region, said rescue workers and police were at the scene of the attack, which occurred early Saturday.

“I urge all of you once again: take care of yourselves, evacuate,” Filashkin wrote on the messaging app Telegram, without giving further details about the attack.

Kostiantynivka is located near the active combat zone in Donetsk, where Russian forces have been slowly advancing for months.
The Russian advance has accelerated in recent weeks as Moscow's troops launch relentless attacks on the strategic logistics hub of Pokrovsk.
