Panama City woman arrested for drunk driving after car accident

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Florida Highway Patrol officials said a Panama City woman was arrested for driving under the influence following a crash early Saturday morning.

According to police, the woman was driving an SUV eastbound on Thomas Drive, near Crescent Drive, around 2 a.m. Saturday. They said she was driving behind a sedan, both in the left lane.

Police reported that the sedan moved into the right lane and prepared to make a U-turn. The driver reportedly did not see the SUV behind him and began to turn left to make a U-turn. At that point, police said, the left front of the sedan struck the right front of the SUV.

FHP accident investigators said that after arriving on scene to investigate the accident, they had reason to believe that the driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old woman from Panama City, was intoxicated and arrested her for drunken driving.
