Shooting on the highway in Howard County:

The 48-year-old man shot at the victim's car through the passenger compartment. The defendant was prohibited from possessing firearms.

TOWSON, Maryland – Maryland State Police have released a statement informing the public of murder charges against a Baltimore man in connection with a highway shooting in Howard County, Maryland.

Quwan Gordon, 48, of Owings Mills, Maryland, is currently charged with attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other related offenses.

Maryland State Police said Gordon was arrested without incident on the morning of August 13, 2024, at his home in Baltimore County on related weapons and drug charges.

On August 12, 2024 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Waterloo Barrack Troppers responded to a report of a shooting on I-95 in Howard County. The incident occurred on I-95 northbound at 44 MM. At the scene, the victims told police they were shot during a “road rage” altercation with the driver of a white Volkswagen.

Police then investigated the scene and found that the passenger compartment of the victim's car had been shot through. They found the projectiles as pictured below:

It is worth mentioning that the police clarified that the victims “remained unharmed in this incident.”

After a thorough investigation, investigators identified and located the white Volkswagen and the driver (Gorgon) and, with due diligence, executed search warrants for Gordon's car and home in Owings Mills. The aforementioned search resulted in the seizure of “suspected MDMA, fentanyl, and a loaded firearm.”

These findings alarmed authorities, who also discovered that the 48-year-old man was prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous convictions. After the inspection, police initially charged Gordon with weapons and drug violations.

After gathering essential information, police concluded that Gordon was connected to the August 12 highway shooting in Howard County.

In cooperation with the Howard County District Attorney's Office, Gordon was charged Friday with attempted murder and related offenses. The defendant is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Maryland State Police are reinforcing the message to “avoid impaired, aggressive and inattentive driving while obeying the speed limit to prevent injuries and fatalities” on the state’s roadways.
