South Carolina man arrested for bank robbery in North Carolina

Greenville police have arrested a man who robbed a North Carolina bank on Friday morning, Aug. 23. (Video above: Previous coverage) Hendersonville police responded to a report of a bank robbery at 9:23 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the State Employees' Credit Union at 90 Commercial Boulevard in Hendersonville, North Carolina. According to authorities, a man wearing a medical face mask handed a clerk a note demanding money. The suspect was last seen leaving the bank on foot. Officials said no bank employees or customers were injured. Banks in the area were immediately alerted after the robbery, officials said. At around 10 p.m. Friday, Greenville police found and arrested the bank robber. The suspect was identified by police as 38-year-old James Scott Bayne Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina. Bayne was charged with aggravated robbery with a dangerous weapon. Authorities say evidence of the robbery was recovered and Bayne was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center, where he awaits extradition to Henderson County. “The cooperation of witnesses and excellent investigative work resulted in the suspect being arrested within just 13 hours of this crime,” said Hendersonville Police Chief Blair Myhand. “The Hendersonville Police Department will leave no stone unturned to seek justice against those who seek to harm our citizens and our community,” Myhand added.

According to authorities, a man wearing a medical face mask handed an employee a note demanding money. The suspect was last seen leaving the bank on foot.

Officials said neither bank employees nor customers were injured.

Banks in the area were immediately alerted after the robbery, officials said.

Around 10 p.m. on Friday, Greenville police found and arrested the bank robber.
