Teenager involved in accident on US 26 dies in hospital

RIRIE – A teenager who was involved in a serious accident on US Highway 26 near Ririe has succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. According to Idaho State Police, the teenager was driving east in a 2016 Dodge Dart when she collided with the rear of a semi-trailer driven by a 67-year-old Idaho Falls man.

According to investigators, the Dodge Dart left the road and overturned. Police said the driver of the semi-trailer was wearing a seatbelt, but the teenager was not.

The teenager was taken to hospital by ambulance. The truck driver was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
