Who will get the job as kicker for the Packers remains unclear after the season finale

GREEN BAY – Just when it looked like Anders Carlson had his job secured for the second season in a row, his right foot caused a stir in the Green Bay Packers' kicker duel.

Carlson got off to an ideal start in Saturday afternoon's 30-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the Packers' final game of the season. He converted his first three kicks, two of which were extra points. His first was a 54-yard field goal that went just over the crossbar but still drew thunderous applause from the fans at Lambeau Field, perhaps sensing that last year's sixth-round draft pick had his job secured.

In the fourth quarter, Carlson prepared for what should have been the cherry on top of his training camp victory over rival Greg Joseph – a 32-yard field goal that was one yard closer than an extra point. That kick sailed wide to the right, destroying the reputation he had built over several weeks.

Anders Carlson had a chance to secure the job as the Green Bay Packers' kicker, but missed a short field goal at the end of Saturday's preseason game.

The Green Bay Packers have never wanted to play a game with more field goal attempts than they did on Saturday afternoon in their final game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens. In a roster with two players mostly set at the end of training camp, the kicker remained the most pressing need among the starters who were still undecided on Saturday. Not unlike the Packers when they entered training camp.
