Nigerian police arrest two suspects for hiding 124 bullets in palm oil, cybercrime and leaking ‘secret’ documents

*The Nigerian Police Command in Nasarawa State arrests one Hauwa Sani for concealing 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil. Detectives also arrest Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as Pidom, in Rivers State. Officers of the Nigeria Police Command in Nasarawa State on Friday, August 23, 2024, arrested Hauwa Sani for concealing 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil.

Ramhan Nansel, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Police Command, made the announcement in a statement posted on his verified X-handle on Saturday, August 24.

State police operatives also arrested the woman suspect with 78,500 Naira in cash and a mobile phone while attempting to smuggle live ammunition into Katsina State in northwest Nigeria.

The statement read: “According to credible information, on 23.08.2024 at about 5.10pm, police operatives of Keffi Division intercepted and arrested a man from the Hauwa Sani ‘F’ family and a two-year-old child from Doro village in Katsina State.

“As a result, one hundred and twenty-four (124) rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in one gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone and a cash amount of seventy-eight thousand five hundred naira (£78,500) were recovered from the suspect as evidence.

The police spokesman further stated: “Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect obtained the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of ​​Nasarawa State and hid it in a gallon of palm oil en route to Katsina State before her arch enemies caught up with her.”

Meanwhile, Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and the evidence to the Military Intelligence Department, Armed Forces Headquarters, Abuja, FCT, for further investigation.

In a related development, the Nigerian police have also arrested one Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as Pidom, on suspicion of several serious offences undermining the integrity of government functioning, including illegal possession, leakage of classified information and cyber crimes in Rivers State.

Detectives have arrested a suspect involved in the leaking of documents in his hotel room in the southern state of Rivers.

It has been made known with certainty that security agents have arrested one Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as Pidom, on suspicion of committing serious crimes that undermine the integrity of government functioning.

The arrest took place on August 5 of this year in his hotel room in the state.

Commenting on the incident, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Nigeria Police Force Press and Public Information Officer (FPRO), said on Saturday, August 24: “In a well-coordinated operation, operatives of the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) of the Nigeria Police Force Bristol arrested Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as Pidom, on suspicion of serious offences that undermine the integrity of government functioning.

“The suspect faces several charges, including unlawful possession, disclosure of classified information, cyber crimes and others.”

ACP Adejobi also said: “We will investigate the cases with due diligence.

“The police will leave no stone unturned to continue enforcing the law and leaving Nigerians a safer country.”
