Bodily harm – aggravated/showing and presenting

On July 11, Manning City Police officers were called to Hope Health at 12 W South St. for a fight in the parking lot near a black SUV involving two men, one of whom was carrying a gun. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with a male offender identified as Ronald Clavon, 62, and a security guard. Clavon reported that his son pulled out a pen and threatened him with it while saying, “I'm going to kill you.” Clavon stated that he was afraid for his life and so he pulled out his gun, a black Hi-Point 9mm, and pointed it at his son.

The officer contacted the son, who was in the doctor's office, and the son stated that he saw his father point the gun at him while driving, so he pulled a pen out of his pocket in self-defense. The son stated that when they arrived at the doctor's office and got out of the car, Clavon had the gun out and still had it next to him, but then raised it toward him. The officer reviewed camera footage near the scene of the accident and observed the Clavon family's car hastily pull into the parking lot and park. The son exited the vehicle and then walked away from the car toward the building. He was then called back to the vehicle where the argument between him and Clavon continued. The son was standing in front of the car when he struck the front bumper with his right foot and then backed out of the car. Clavon raised his gun and pointed it at his son. The son then approached Clavon and yelled, “Shoot me.”

Security officers then approach the vehicle to de-escalate the situation and separate the two individuals while personnel in the vehicle call 911. An officer recovers the firearm located in Clavon's car, informs Clavon that he is being arrested for pointing and displaying a firearm, and subsequently transports him to the Clarendon County Detention Center.
