Russell Wilson wins Steelers starting quarterback job – WPXI

You can say it even if Mike Tomlin hasn't done so yet: Russell Wilson is the starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wilson made his second preseason start on Saturday against the Detroit Lions. Wilson wasn't necessarily bad in his debut for the Steelers the previous week against the Buffalo Bills, but the entire offense around him struggled so much that it was difficult to get a good read on Wilson's position after suffering a calf injury earlier in practice.

He played against the Lions on Saturday looking like the player he has been throughout training camp at St. Vincent College: a composed, precise-passing attacking leader.

Wilson hit George Pickens for a great third down to keep the first drive alive. His only other completion was a pass to Pickens on a screen that caused yardage losses.

Tomlin had seen enough.
