Cannonier vs. Borralho: A fight over

An Apex card that was already questionable in the eyes of some fans took a hit just as the broadcast of UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Borralho began.

The broadcast began with the commentary team announcing that the preliminary fight between TUF 32 contestants Zygimantas Ramaska and Nathan Fletcher was canceled due to a medical issue with Fletcher. According to UFC commentator Brendan Fitzgerald, the cancellation came just minutes before the fight was scheduled to begin.

As a result, the field of participants was reduced to five preliminary fights and five main fights.

Zygimantas Ramaska vs. Nathan Fletcher was canceled due to a medical issue a few minutes before the start of UFC Fight Night

Both men took part in the 32nd season of The ultimate fightertrained by UFC Women's Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso and former champion and upcoming challenger Valentina Shevchenko.

Ramaska defeated Bekhzod Usmonov in the opening round of the featherweight tournament in a fight considered one of the best of the season, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission did not grant him medical clearance to advance to the semifinals on short notice.

Fletcher, meanwhile, lost to Kaan Ofli in the first round and any plans to use him as a replacement for Ramaska in the tournament were dashed the week before when he was diagnosed with a broken fibula.

Ofli and Mairon Santos will compete in the featherweight final of the show later in the evening, while Ryan Loder and Robert Valentin will face off in the middleweight final.
