Police release bodycam footage of suspected fatal shooting following DUI in Valley View

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – Brooklyn Heights Police released new bodycam footage Saturday of a possible driving-related shooting.

According to Valley View police, 41-year-old Christopher Andexler was shot around 10 a.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of Brecksville Road.

Andexler was taken to MetroHealth Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Valley View Police Chief David Niro also confirmed that a vehicle involved in the murder crashed on East Schaaf Road in Brooklyn Heights minutes after the shooting.

The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, police said.

Bodycam footage from Brooklyn Heights showed police arresting a man and then searching the area for a woman who was allegedly also in the vehicle.

According to police, after the search, police found the woman with her two small children under the age of five.

“I didn’t run,” the woman said.

“Yes, you were,” an officer replied.

The police also found a firearm on the woman.

The two adults in the vehicle were arrested.

19 News has reached out to Valley View Police and the Cuyahoga County District Attorney's Office multiple times for more information about the man and woman, but has not received a response.

The children were handed over to the youth welfare office.
