Chaos in Koligan Stadium: Massive brawl breaks out during football game between Central and Garza High

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — What began as a celebration for Central Unified turned into chaos Friday night at Koligian Stadium.

The Central High Grizzlies were leading 40-0 against the Garza High Guardians when a fierce battle broke out between the two teams.

Footage obtained by Action News shows the fight escalating and at least one man being accidentally struck, but it is unclear what sparked the fight on the field.

The game was abandoned at the beginning of the 4th quarter.

This was the first time Garza High hosted Central High.

Central Unified will meet with the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) on Monday to discuss how to proceed.

No bans have been imposed so far.

The district says it will follow the CIF’s instructions.

In a statement, Central Unified Superintendent Ketti Davis urged the community to “continue to focus on promoting respect, sportsmanship and the values that reflect the best of Central's students, staff and community.”
