Plainville Fire Department responds to serious multi-vehicle crash on Route 1

PLAINVILLE – Assistant Fire Chief Robert Skinner reports the Plainville Fire Department was called to a serious multi-vehicle crash on Route 1 Saturday evening.

On Saturday, August 24, around 8:30 p.m. The Plainville Fire Department was notified of an accident on Route 1 near Route 495.

When paramedics arrived, they discovered an accident involving five vehicles and several injured people.

A total of seven ambulances from the Plainville, North Attleboro, Wrentham, Foxboro, Mansfield and Franklin fire departments were called to the scene to help treat the injured and transport them to area hospitals.

One juvenile patient with life-threatening injuries was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Three adult patients were taken to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with serious injuries. Three other juvenile children were taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence with injuries. The patients' conditions are currently unknown.

Massachusetts State Police arrived at the scene and are investigating. Plainville and Wrentham police departments also assisted.

Deputy Police Chief Skinner would like to thank everyone who arrived quickly and helped with the operation.
