Jennifer Pan's father to testify in murder trial today

A father who was shot during a home invasion allegedly orchestrated by his daughter is scheduled to testify today at her trial in Newmarket, Ontario.

Jennifer Pan and four men are accused of murdering her mother and attempting to murder her father.

Huei Hann Pan was shot in the face in November 2010 during an apparent break-in at his home, but survived. His wife was killed by gunshot wounds to the head.

Jennifer Pan called 911 from her Markham home and told the dispatcher that she was able to free herself after three armed men tied her hands. Today, her father will likely tell a different story.

According to prosecutors, Pan saw his daughter talking quietly to one of the intruders and she was not restrained. The father is expected to describe how he was horrified when he was awakened by a man pointing a gun at his head. He is also expected to tell the court that he and his wife were ordered to go to the basement.

Prosecutors told the jury that Hann Pan would testify that someone threw a blanket over his head and shot him near his right eye. When he regained consciousness, he saw his wife lying dead on the floor.

Prosecutors allege that the incident was actually a targeted killing orchestrated by Jennifer Pan because her parents had prevented them from having a relationship with her. Prosecutors claim that her story of breaking into her home fell apart when it became clear that her father had survived.

Pan, 27, her ex-boyfriend Daniel Wong and three other men are each accused of intentionally violating her.
