Two people in hospital after shooting, investigations ongoing

SAN ANTONIO – Two people were hospitalized in stable condition after a custody dispute in the city's southwest side escalated into a shooting.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), a 30-year-old mother had custody of her daughter today. An altercation broke out between her and the 64-year-old grandfather near Royston Street. The mother was accompanied by her boyfriend and a 10-year-old boy.

According to police, the mother, her boyfriend and the two children fled in a Nissan Ultima after the argument. The grandfather followed them and allegedly opened fire, hitting the mother and the boyfriend. The children were unharmed.

The victims drove themselves to Baptist Neighborhood Hospital, from where they were both taken to San Antonio Medical Center (SAMC) for further treatment.

Police are currently investigating the incident and working to gather further details.
