After the death of clothing dealer Nasim on Friday, his neighbours attacked his wife Sahina Parvin and handed her over to the police. They also reportedly vandalized the house, pharmacy and bicycle of pharmacist Sheikh Morselim and set them on fire. As tensions escalated on Saturday morning, police and RAF personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control.

Laila Begum, a neighbour of the victim and a member of the Bankra Panchayat Samity, said, “Nasim was suffering from viral fever for 21 days. He was given medicines for the first week, but when the fever did not subside, his wife took him to the pharmacist. The doctor told the policemen that the pharmacist had given him oral chemotherapy for 15 days, which led to his death due to multi-organ failure.”
The police interrogated Sahina, Morselim and Asif and found that the victim had been administered cancer drugs. A police officer said the two accused were arrested while the victim's viscera were being subjected to a forensic examination. “We have launched an investigation into the allegation and are awaiting the report on the viscera,” the officer said.
