Darkwood, Coffs Harbour: Shocking details emerge about the relationship between a man found dead in a surfboard bag and a woman accused of murder

A woman accused of murdering a man before his body was found in a surfboard bag is said to have had a relationship with him and paid him rent.

Lisa Marie Cummings, 35, was arrested after Mark Myers, 62, was found dead in a Darkwood home in Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales north coast at 7pm on Thursday.

His body was found in a surfboard bag that had been dumped on the driveway of the property.

Cummings was handcuffed at a property on Loftus Street in Nambucca Heads, 70 kilometres away, on Friday and charged with murder (domestic violence) and denied bail.

New South Wales Police sources told the Daily Telegraph that Cummings had paid rent to Mr Myers and that she had been in a relationship with him.

It is believed that Mr. Myers died elsewhere before his body was found on the driveway.

Police set up a crime scene where the body was found, but the property was evacuated days later and no officers were seen outside the house on Saturday.

Neighbours were shocked by Mr Myers' sudden death and described him as a quiet and decent man.

Inspector Nicholls urged anyone with information to contact police.

Cummings appeared in Port Macquarie Magistrates Court on Saturday, where she failed to apply for bail, which was officially denied.

She is expected to appear in court again on Monday.
