Jerry Jones: We will not look for reinforcements for the corner after DaRon Bland's injury

The Cowboys will be without Cornerback DaRon Bland is scheduled to open the regular season, but the team will not look to find outside reinforcements for that position as teams make roster decisions this week.

That was the statement from team owner Jerry Jones on Saturday. Bland is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a stress fracture in his foot, but Jones dismissed the notion that the team will try to sign someone to complement Trevon Diggs and Jourdan Lewis at the top of the order.

“Not at all, not in any way,” Jones said on the team's website. “Not at all. The good news is we have some guys who played well in camp. We're not even going to look at it.”

The internal pick to step in in Bland's absence is fifth-round pick Caelen Carson. The rookie will likely be a frequent target for opposing quarterbacks until he can prove that's not a good idea for offensive success. If the Cowboys don't make a move, they'll hope it happens quickly.
