Two people arrested after collision between stolen vehicle and Harrisonburg police patrol car

HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Two teenagers were arrested after driving a stolen vehicle into a Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) patrol car. The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. Saturday night at the Skyline Village Shopping Center on East Market Street.

The suspects, a 16-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger, were initially spotted by HPD officers who began blocking the mall's exits. In a desperate attempt to escape, the suspects' vehicle collided with an occupied civilian vehicle before ultimately crashing into the HPD patrol car. Fortunately, the officer involved was unharmed and was cleared of injuries at the scene.

After the accident, both suspects attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly arrested after a short chase. During the arrest, a stolen firearm was found on the 18-year-old. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Charges are currently being filed against both suspects. HPD officers will remain on scene as the investigation continues.
