Elderly couple killed, 4 others injured in Lenawee County crash

TECUMSEH, Michigan (WTVG) – An elderly couple died in a traffic accident in Lenawee County Saturday night that left four other people hospitalized with serious injuries.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on East Monroe Road near Matthews Highway in Tecumseh Township, Michigan State Police said.

An 85-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife from Tecumseh were traveling westbound on East Monroe Road when they collided with another vehicle traveling eastbound. Neither survived the accident.

Four people from Adrian who were in the other vehicle were hospitalized with serious injuries. State police said they were ages 76, 74, 26 and 25. They are expected to recover, police said.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the accident, but say that neither speeding nor alcohol were involved.
