Suspect arrested for alleged shooting and killing of man in Mesa

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – A man was arrested for allegedly killing a man in Mesa on Saturday.

At 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a call to an apartment complex near Mesa Drive and Leseur, north of Main Street, for reports of “unknown issues.” The caller said a man may have been experiencing a seizure.

When firefighters began providing medical care, they discovered that the man had been shot. Despite attempts to save the man's life, he died at the scene. Witnesses told police that a suspect, 39-year-old Antonio Marquez-Mora, fled the scene.

While searching the area, police found Marquez-Mora in a nearby parking lot. During his questioning by investigators, he allegedly admitted to shooting the man and claimed it was an accident.

After his interrogation, he was arrested and sent to prison for premeditated murder.

No further information has been released about the deceased man or the circumstances of the shooting.
