One dead and two injured in early morning shooting on Orlando Way

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — Sacramento police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the 1500 block of Orlando Way. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 3 a.m. after gunshots were reported in the area.

When officers arrived, they discovered an adult man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite immediate rescue efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers began life-saving measures,” Sacramento police said in a press release. “Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Two other adult victims were injured in the incident. One was found nearby with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. A third victim, who also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, later self-checked into a hospital for treatment.

Due to the nature of the incident, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation. “They will examine the crime scene, canvass the area and interview witnesses,” the press release states. The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office pending notification of next of kin.
