Prosecutor: Man faces murder charge after stabbing family member in New Bedford

A Puerto Rican man faces murder charges after stabbing a family member to death during an argument at a New Bedford apartment complex Saturday afternoon, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office said.

Police have arrested 42-year-old Juan Padilla-Santana in connection with the death of 23-year-old Omil Padilla-Corsino, the prosecutor's office said in a press release.

New Bedford police responded to 68 South Street early Saturday afternoon, prosecutors said, where they found Padilla-Corsino with life-threatening stab wounds.

Paramedics took Padilla-Corsino to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, prosecutors said. Investigators soon discovered that Padilla-Corsino and Padilla-Santana are related and that the stabbing followed an argument between family members at 68 South St.

Padilla-Santana is scheduled to be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Monday morning. No further information about the stabbing has been released.
