Former Ohio State Buckeyes star questions Ryan Day's job security

The Ohio State Buckeyes begin their 2024 college football season on August 31st with a game against the Akron Zips. Ryan Day is facing a crucial season that could determine his future at the school.

First, college football analyst Paul Finebaum suggested that the Buckeyes might consider parting ways with Day if things don't go as planned this season. Now, a former Ohio State star has weighed in on the head coach's job security.

Former star running back Beanie Wells is the latest to suggest the Buckeyes could move on from Day, believing another loss to the Michigan Wolverines could force Ohio State to move on from Day.

“They're going to do their best and I think they have to do it, especially if Ryan Day still wants to stay at Ohio State.”

Needless to say, Day will feel the pressure all year long.

Currently, Ohio State is widely considered a top contender for the national championship. On paper, the Buckeyes arguably have the most talent in the nation.

Living up to expectations is easier said than done. Ohio State has some very tough games on their schedule and will have to play their best every week. They are definitely a target.

Still, the talent is there and the Buckeyes have a real chance to bring the national championship back to Columbus.

It will be interesting to see how the 2024 season unfolds. Leaving Day would be a very bold decision, but there is a lot of speculation and evidence that he could be on the hot seat.

Expect there to continue to be speculation and reports about Day's future with the team, but for now, it's certainly something to keep a very close eye on.
