Three defendants charged with extortion and coercion

DISCOVER:

Cases of extortion and blackmail of Rs 20,000 have been filed against three men after they recorded an indecent video of a girl during a phone conversation.

A resident of Sultan Nagar told police that Saqlain had befriended his 22-year-old daughter over the phone. Later, the suspect recorded a video of the girl committing indecent acts and then started blackmailing her by extorting money and valuables worth Rs 20,000.

The suspect and his accomplices Numan and Ashraf threatened the victim and demanded that she give them a similar video of one of her cousins. The suspects also blackmailed her and demanded another Rs 20,000.

When the demand was not met, the suspects uploaded the pictures on social media.

The police have taken up the case and begun arresting the suspects.

Meanwhile, a man, frustrated over domestic problems, committed suicide by hanging himself. The police took the body into custody and handed it over to the family of the deceased after completing legal formalities.

The deceased is 28-year-old Muhammad Ashfaq, a resident of Mohalla Usman Ghani in Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Ashfaq worked in a fabric shop and had two daughters and a son. He hanged himself when he returned home from work in the evening and found everyone asleep.

According to police, Ashfaq had a dispute with neighbors about a month ago, which was later settled.
