Stewart Cink takes first PGA Tour Champions victory at Ally Challenge

GRAND BLANC, Michigan – Stewart Cink won the Ally Challenge on Sunday and captured his first PGA Tour Champions title, finishing with a score of 66 (six under par) for a four-stroke lead.

Cink, 51, won in his 10th start on the 50+ over tour. He became the 22nd player to win on each of the PGA Tour's three tours – the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.

He won about five months after losing a lead in Tucson shortly before the end.

“It was definitely a motivation when I got the lead on the first lap,” Cink said. “I know I can win, but we always believe in the 2% of things that happen instead of the 98%. In Tucson it was probably 2%, but it happened.”

Cink finished the Warwick Hills tournament at 17 under par and 199 strokes, equaling Joe Durant's 2021 tournament record. The eight-time PGA Tour titleholder – and winner of the 2009 Open Championship – has competed 14 times this season, with his best finish being a tied 24th at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

“I was just really proud of myself – how I stayed in the moment and just played my best on every shot,” Cink said. “Today was the best I could do, damn good. That was the best golf I've played in a long time.”

KJ Choi finished second with a 67. Mike Weir (64) was another stroke back and Darren Clarke (67) followed at 10 under par.

Bernhard Langer (65) was 9 under par with David Duval (65), Bob Estes (70), Steve Allan (71) and David Branshaw (71). The 66-year-old Langer holds a record of 46 wins on the PGA Tour Champions.
