Director talks about the release status of “That '90s Show”, Part 4

The wild 90s has not yet been renewed for part 4, but the director of part 3, Laura Preppon “Really [hopes]” that the show will return on Netflix.

The comedy spinoff series of The wild seventies Part 3 (also known as Season 2, Part 2) was recently released, continuing the story of Leia (Callie Haverda), the teenage daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Preppon), who struggles with complex relationships with friends and family in Point Place, Wisconsin.

Season 1 was released on Netflix on January 23, 2023. It was then renewed by Netflix a few weeks later after the first season reached the top 10 of the streamer's English-language TV chart in 35 countries.

The wild 90s Season 2 was then split into two parts. Part 1 was released on June 27, while Part 2 premiered on August 22.

The wild 90s Season 2, Part 2 ended on a cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering if Leia would stay in Point Place permanently or if her drug-related decision could bring her back to her mother Donna in Chicago forever.

In conversation with The Wrap The wild 90s Star and director Laura Preppon said that the ending “open ending” by the authors due to the uncertainty regarding the possible extension of Part 4 (Season 3) and admitted that she does not know “if the show should last longer” with a possible publication of a part 4:

“I don't know if the show will last – I really hope so, because the cast is wonderful… and the crew is just phenomenal.”

Preppon, who directed all eight episodes of Part 3, also said she would like “steer more [episodes]” And “be a part of [a potential] Part 4:”

“I would love to direct more… and be a part of it, but I just don't know what's going to happen.”

The The wild seventies Alum expressed the same opinion in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying: “I really hope we can do more.”

While plot details on a possible fourth installment are still unknown, Kurtwood Smith, who plays Red Forman in the series, spoke to Cinemablend about his hopes for his character in a possible third season, noting that he wants Red and Leia to spend more time together and develop their bond:

“I don't think we've deepened the relationship with our granddaughter like we did with Eric and Topher Grace. Hopefully that will come more in Season 3. Our separate relationships with Topher and us as a couple towards Topher was a big part of That '70s Show, and so far that hasn't evolved. [with Leia]or it's evolving, but it hasn't gotten that far yet, so I think that will make a difference.”

Will part 4 of “That 90s Show” ever be released on Netflix?

In view of this The wild 90s Part 3 has just been released on Netflix, and news of a possible renewal could emerge weeks later.

It is worth noting that the premiere of the first season took place on January 23, and the news of its official renewal came on February 3, that is, a period of 11 days.

Season 2, Part 1 was released on June 27, while the announcement that Part 2's release was being pushed back from October 24 to August 22 came on July 30, just over a month later.

It is possible that new information about The wild 90s could come to light in the coming weeks, be it a possible extension or an unexpected cancellation.

Netflix may be waiting for the entire second season to be recorded before announcing a possible fourth part.
