Kim Taylor released from prison, serving the second half of her sentence under house arrest

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Kim Taylor has been released from prison after serving a four-month sentence for federal voter fraud.

Kim Taylor, the wife of Woodbury County Executive Jeremy Taylor, was found guilty of over 50 counts of voter fraud in November 2023.

At trial, prosecutors proved that Kim Taylor had manipulated Vietnamese parents into voting on behalf of family members or otherwise voting illegally.

In April of this year, she was sentenced to four months in prison and four months of house arrest. Immediately after her release from prison, she will also be placed on two years of supervised release. She will also have to pay a special levy of $5,200.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, 50-year-old Kim Taylor was released on Friday.

Earlier this month, Kim Taylor's attorney filed an appeal of her conviction, citing insufficient evidence. In his appeal, Taylor's attorney is asking the court to overturn her conviction due to insufficient evidence and order an acquittal on those charges. Or, Taylor's attorney is asking the court to overturn Taylor's conviction and order a retrial on any charges that remain after the court's review of the case.

This was the latest appeal by Taylor's lawyers, who filed the first appeal shortly after her conviction in April.

Kim Taylor served her four-month prison sentence in Waseca, Minnesota, a “low-security” prison about three and a half hours from Sioux City.
