Arkansas loses starting quarterback KJ Jefferson to the transfer portal this offseason after playing for the team for the past three years. The Razorbacks bring Boise State transfer Taylen Green as his successor.

Green has a similar skill set to Jefferson, as both are dual-threat quarterbacks. Green rushed for 1,024 yards and 19 touchdowns in two seasons as the Broncos' starter and also threw for 3,794 yards and 25 touchdowns with 15 interceptions.

The Razorbacks also have their top four receivers back from last year to give Green plenty of opportunities to distribute the ball. This first game will ultimately be a test of his ability, as Arkansas should win it easily.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff starts its second season under coach Alonzo Hampton

The Golden Lions are coming off a 2-9 season in 2023, the first year under coach Alonzo Hampton. They last played against the Razorbacks in the 2021 season, losing 45-3 with Jefferson throwing for 194 yards and four touchdowns.

One would think that Green can be similarly successful in this matchup against Pine Bluff. If he can do that, it should be a breeze for Arkansas' offense.

A few players to keep an eye on for the Golden Lions are Starting Quarterback Mekhi Hagens and recipient Demon DawkinsHagens appeared in nine games last season and threw for 580 yards and three touchdowns with four interceptions. He also rushed for 312 yards and four touchdowns.

Ultimately, this should be a win for Arkansas as it appears to be settling in with Green as its quarterback. The real question is how ready he will be right away as Oklahoma State is on the road next week.
