Rockford company helps stop labor market slump

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Looking for a new job can be stressful, exciting and exhausting. Employees at Spherion Recruiting Services are here to help.

The company works with job seekers on a daily basis, and a new location opened on August 22 at Perryville Road and Crimson Ridge Drive. Resources like Spherion are dedicated to helping people find employment.

Courtney Vossekuil, branch manager at Spherion, says, “We are based in our communities, our owner owns the Madison and Rockford offices, so we serve southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. We specialize in solutions tailored to our customers and prospects.”

According to the Labor Department, 818,000 jobs were lost in the labor market in the twelve months to March.

This change means that 2.1 million new jobs were created in the United States last year, compared to 2.9 million the year before. The new figures do not represent job losses, but rather new estimates of the actual jobs created during that period.

Austin Kassner, president of Spherion, says, “After the pandemic, we saw a huge surge in hiring. There were record numbers of people changing jobs, and they called it a major restructuring or termination. What we're seeing now is that trend is slowing across the board.”

The most popular industries currently are manufacturing, non-clinical healthcare and administrative services. Other in-demand jobs include data analytics, cybersecurity experts and digital marketing professionals.
