Actor Darshan, who is involved in the Renukaswamy murder case, was seen on a video call from jail after being accused of VIP treatment

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is in jail in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, was seen enjoying drinks and cigarettes on a video call, India Today reported.

The actor is currently lodged in the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru, where he was first spotted in casual clothes while enjoying a drink and a cigarette with other inmates in a garden of the prison.

The undated picture went viral on social media, prompting prison authorities to investigate allegations that the actor, accused of murdering a 33-year-old rickshaw driver named Renukaswamy, was given VIP treatment.

The rickshaw driver, a fan of Darshan, had apparently sent hate messages to Pavithra Gowda, the actor's partner, after which the actor allegedly ordered a gang to kidnap and murder Renukaswamy.

The body of the auto driver was found on a flyover on June 9. Darshan, Pavithra Gowda and 15 others were arrested by the police.

After his controversial picture went viral, another video surfaced showing a video call between two unidentified men. Darshan was later seen in the video call.

HT cannot confirm the authenticity of the photo and video.

Renukaswamy's father had reacted to the video and requested the state government to take appropriate action against Darshan.

According to a India today In a report, Renukaswamy's father said, “When Darshan asked for home-cooked food, he was not allowed to do so. We have faith in the police and the judicial system. I am completely surprised how this could have happened. This is shocking news for me. I request the government to investigate and take action.”
