Three people were hospitalized late Sunday evening following a serious four-car accident on Freeway 405.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the southbound lanes near Mulholland Drive in Sepulveda Pass near Bel Air.

When officers arrived, they found that the middle lanes of the highway were blocked by the two SUVs involved in the accident.

Three people, all adults, were taken to the hospital with injuries that police said were minor, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. A child in one of the two cars was not taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

SkyCal was visible in the sky as an extremely long line of cars snaked back for miles as all but one lane was closed for the CHP investigation. It was unclear when the lanes were expected to reopen.
