UFC veteran warns: Michael Chandler will regret wasting time and not money waiting for the fight against Conor McGregor

Michael Chandler's wait to face Conor McGregor is now nearly two years. While most MMA fans and pundits agree that Chandler is making a mistake by wasting time, the Nashville resident understands that a fight against the Irishman will set him up for life. And former UFC fighter Matt Brown agrees, except for the part where Chandler regrets not fighting for two years at the peak of his career.

Former UFC veteran Matt Brown recently joined MMA Fighting to discuss the mega fight between Chandler and McGregor.

The former fighter stated that he felt the wait would pay off financially, but when Chandler looks back on that time, he might regret wasting time waiting for a fight during his prime.

“Yeah, ultimately he probably won't lose any money fighting Conor McGregor. But… it's only a short window of time when you can compete at the highest level. I think he'll look back at 50 or 60 and say, 'Man, I missed a couple of years just waiting for payday.'”

What's even more troubling for Chandler is the constant uncertainty. While he claims the UFC has always supported him and constantly encouraged him during the fight, McGregor has changed his mind about the fight about a million times based on things he's said online.

Therefore, for the past two years, there was no guarantee for Chandler that the fight would definitely take place.

What's stopping McGregor against Chandler?

It's no secret that Conor McGregor and the UFC were once a match made in heaven. McGregor put up numbers like no other and Dana White's relationship with him was golden for years.

McGregor could trash an entire country on tour, denigrate a religion, and beat up old men in clubs, and it still wasn't a problem for the company because he was their biggest star, a cash cow that could be milked until doomsday.

But while White waits for the most famous mixed martial artist in the world to show up and fight, the end has already come for the Irishman. He no longer needs the money. So he does what he wants: films, pub crawls, parties and more parties on yachts.

And with only two fights left on his contract and rumors circulating about an unsuccessful renegotiation, no one knows what the “Mystic Mac” will do. There is no certainty anymore.

Now, as they try to set a new fight date, the blame game is heating up again. In a recent Twitter argument, Conor accused White of missing his promised December fight date after White announced he would not fight in 2024.

So if it were Chandler, this would at least have to cause him serious concern!
