24:26Jovanni Sy: Revival of Arthur Miller’s Chinese production of “Death of a Salesman”

In 1983, in the midst of the Cold War, Arthur Miller traveled to China to stage a Mandarin version of his famous play. Death of a traveling salesmanDespite some hurdles, the production ultimately became a milestone in Chinese-American cultural relations.

Now there is a new piece called Seller in China tells the story of the incredibly challenging collaboration between the American playwright and the Chinese artist Ying Ruocheng. Jovanni Sy, the director and co-writer of Seller in Chinatells us more together with guest presenter Talia Schlanger.

Seller in China recently Premiered at the Stratford Festival. You can see it at the Avon Theatre in Stratford, Ontario until October 26th.
