WCSO: Woman charged with smuggling drugs into prison

Washington County Sheriff's officials have charged 34-year-old Whitney Tamera Whitson with introducing contraband into a penal institution and manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine. A sheriff's office report states that officers made contact with Whitson on Dry Creek Road on Aug. 22. A records check revealed that she was wanted for nonpayment of child support and had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Whitson was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and upon intake, staff discovered two baggies concealed in her clothing. One contained a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine and a second clear baggie contained unmarked pills and a white powder. A third baggie was discovered in Whitson's body. This baggie contained 17.9 grams of methamphetamine. Whitson is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26.
