19-year-old driver from Vernon killed in crash at Buckland shopping centre

MANCHESTER – A 19-year-old Vernon woman was killed in a car crash Sunday evening after she drove off the road and struck a tree near the Buckland Hills shopping center, according to police.

The driver was identified as Makayla Theriaque, police said.

According to Manchester Police spokesman Lt. Nicholas Reinert, police were called to the area of ​​233 Buckland Hills Drive shortly after 8:30 p.m. for a reported accident.

Investigators concluded that Theriaque was traveling west on the road when her vehicle “left the roadway and struck a tree,” Reinert said. She was taken to a local trauma hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The accident will be investigated on Monday, Reinert said.
