Press Secretary Sergeant Darrell McMann said in a news release that Kiauna Grice, 33, of Century, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; Tashawna Perkins, 31, of Century, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; and Hannah Reed, 20, of Foley, was charged with simple possession of a controlled substance. McMann added that Reed had an outstanding warrant from the Escambia County (Alabama) Sheriff's Office. All were taken to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

McMann said APD officers were called to the Canoe area around 2:20 p.m. on the day of the arrest to search for a suspicious vehicle heading toward Atmore.

“One of the officers observed the vehicle on Highway 31 near Medical Park Drive,” he said. “The vehicle was traveling back toward Canoe. The officer checked the license plate attached to the vehicle and found that the license plate was registered to another vehicle.”

McMann said an officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Grice, and passengers, Perkins and Reed.

Grice gave officers permission to search her vehicle, McMann said.

“During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine, approximately 1 gram of synthetic cannabis (Spice) and a mixture of several loose pills identified as Loratab and Tramadol,” he said.
