4 people arrested for allegedly attempting to use fake credit cards in cruise ship casino – NBC 6 South Florida

Four passengers on a four-day cruise from Miami ended up behind bars at the end of the trip after authorities said they attempted to use fake credit cards in the ship's casino.

According to police reports, the four suspects were passengers on board the MSC Magnifica, which departed from Miami on August 19 on a voyage with stops in the Bahamas.

During the voyage, according to reports from MSC security personnel, the suspects attempted to “withdraw large amounts of money on board” by using fake credit cards for slot machines and other casino games in the ship's casino.

The security service contacted U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which identified fraudulent activity related to the suspects' cruise booking and financial transactions on board the ship, the reports said.

Bahamian Customs and Border Protection was contacted and instructed to prohibit the suspects from leaving the vessel and entering the Bahamas.

When the ship returned to PortMiami on Friday, the four suspects were taken into custody and taken to a Miami-Dade jail.

According to reports, investigators found that the suspects had registered three different credit cards during the cruise, but they were declined on the grounds that they were fraudulent.

US Customs searched the suspects' phones and found “numerous personal information” on them, the reports said.
