Accident involving several vehicles and military equipment, one dead

BRINKLEY, Arkansas (KAIT/KATV) – The Arkansas Department of Transportation has confirmed that a tractor-trailer involved in a fatal crash was carrying military equipment.

According to content partner KATV, a grass fire broke out at 5:30 p.m. at mile marker 211 on Interstate 40 eastbound near Brinkley.

According to the Arkansas State Police, an accident involving three semi-trailers resulted in one person being killed.

ARDOT said officials from Louisiana were called to remove the equipment because it may be explosive.

People are being asked to use Highway 70 as a detour as cleanup efforts could take several hours. A one-mile evacuation radius is in effect until equipment is removed from the area.
