Suspect arrested in 21st murder of the year in San Jose

SAN JOSE – A 39-year-old San Jose man was arrested in connection with the city’s 21st homicide this year, authorities said.

Jesus Casas was identified as a suspect after burned human remains were discovered at a homeless encampment near Roberts Avenue and Vintage Way on Aug. 19, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release Monday.

On August 22, Casas was tracked down and arrested by officials on a warrant, Hernandez said.

Casas was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on murder charges, Hernandez said.

The motive and circumstances of the murder remain under investigation.
