Man found dead in Chestnut Hill area, murder investigation ongoing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Homicide detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department say they are following strong leads to find the person who shot and killed a man Monday afternoon.

The 41-year-old was found in an alley near Hart and Creek streets, near Trevecca Nazarene University. Police said they are working to notify his family before releasing his identity.

Police said witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and then seeing a man on a moped leaving the area. Officers said they found the victim lying in the alley with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He died at the scene of the accident.

Officers said the victim lived in a camp on Creek Street and was allegedly accused of stealing another man's moped.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 in homicide cases, according to MNPD.
